Help us Spread the Good!

The past few months have been especially hard for all of us. Natural disasters, devastating man made events, losing loved ones, losing homes, losing everything. First and foremost, our hearts go out to everyone affected by the Las Vegas tragedy, the California fires, the hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and the US territories of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. As an organization we are putting our heads together and will find an appropriate, effective way to help our friends, neighbors and families in the coming months to pick up the pieces. Our organization is all about hope. During times like these hope can seem like all we have. Sometimes, hope is too difficult to hold on to. But that is why we exist.

Our goal is to spread hope and joy. Our mission is to make lives better. We do currently do that by helping to make the holidays a little brighter for kids and families in need. In light of recent events, and to be honest - I personally wondered if what we do really matters. I thought of our little tree program as pretty insignificant when so many people are facing so many other - and more urgent, needs.

If I am being completely honest, for a moment I was starting to lose hope. Then I thought again about why we do what we do. I recalled some of the stories and the feedback we've heard over the years. Many tears of joy. Many comments like "I've never had a tree before" and "We were blown away that someone would even think of this, and think of us."

Then I thought of something. Maybe I heard it somewhere, or maybe it just came to me. I have no idea. "The life you live is only as good as the lives you lift."

Its about doing good anywhere we can. Good in big ways. Good in small ways. Good anywhere in between. I believe this to my core. With so much going on around us, we must find ways to do good. Without ceasing, without wavering. And, when we do waiver for a moment, we need to get back to doing what we know to do; good.

We are hosting an event on November 8th in Gilroy; 5:30-7:30 pm, Old City Hall Restaurant. the donation is $25 per person. Your donation will provide one complete tree kit ( a tree, a stand, ornaments) for a local family or person who would otherwise not be able to afford a tree this year. You are personally invited to join us for this short mixer. It is our "One Bright Night" where we get to have some fun, share some laughs and hugs, and most importantly, raise some serious funds to help make the holidays a little brighter for our friends and neighbors.

Please join us. Help us spread the good in this small way. Connect with us on facebook or on our website and join the conversation on doing good. Consider partnering with us as we grow and look for other ways to spread the good in the coming months and years. So much help is needed everywhere we turn, so much good to be done. For us, it all starts with a tree.
